Review: Limecrimes' Velvetines!

Hi guys!
Today I am here to review for you, Lime Crimes’ new: Velvetines!

Lime Crime has picked up a lot of popularity over the past three years thanks to Tumblr and other social media, and is most well known for their SUPER Opaque, and creamy lipsticks, that come in a variety of wacky and wonderfully fun colors!
And this time, they’ve brought us a product that has RESTORED my faith in their ability to deliver what they are promoting, and that is the VELVETINES!.
From their Website:
VELVETINES
"Put it on… and forget about it."
Long-lasting, waterproof liquid lipstick that goes on with the ease of gloss and dries completely matte.
As always, Lime Crime has the BEST, most well thought and designed packaging, I am such a ho for good packaging and they did not dissapoint.
Velvetines comes in Two color choices the First is Suede Berry:
This color is a very orangey florescent red, and is scented in Lime Crimes signature sugary sweet scent.
This color is ideal for people with a warm undertone, and really compliments every thing from pastel colors, to dark black and winter colors.
The secound colour it comes in is a cool, deep red: Red Velvet.
This colour is my all time favorite red lip color EVER.

I have ALWAYS wanted a red this color, but every time (and trust me i have tried MANY) I’ve bought a red lipstick, with the promise of a deep sultry red, and matte, always it either wound up this Fire Hydrant red, or super glossy, and just does NOT do my lips any service.
But here we have Lime Crime, and to be honest I was wary to purchase this lip product, since the LAST TIME I bought one ( their Carousel lip glosses ugh) i was HORRIBLY disappointed by how un-even and thick the application was, and it was just an all over unpleasant experience.
How I rejoiced when i swatched these!
(excuse the orange swatch of Coquette 8P)
LOOK!  A SEAMLESS MATTE FINISH!!  AND TRUE TO COLOR, NO OXIDATION HERE!!!
FRHIUFU:KDJIORKJ
SERIOUSLY.  I almost cried putting this on my lips!
The applicator is really interesting too, although I know most are felt tipped, this one actually FEELS like velvet quality, so not only when the product dries, does it FEEL like velvet but you get the sensation of applying velvet to your lips in the process!
Although application is VERY tricky.  Because this product is quite LITERALLY liquid  do not buy this product thinking it is the consistency of a lipgloss because it is NOT!
Rather, it reminds me a lot of super watery acrylic paint and dries in the same manner as well.
I would definitely recommend investing in lip liners for these colors (HEY Lime Crime lets get some lip liners too huhuhuhhh ~<3) since getting a crisp clean line with the felt applicator is VERY difficult.
Putting it on, i found it was BEST to use only one or two coats, thankfully the product is pigmented to the heavens (another signature feature of Lime Crime) so you don’t need more than that.  AND trust me, you do NOT want to use more than TWO coats, because when the product DOES fully dry, you will have this very powdery mess that crackles and rolls into “makeup” balls *similar looking to lint balls*.
The best thing about this product I’d have to say is it’s long lasting wear.  Seriously, I can lick, bite, kiss, just about any thing and this lip color wont budge.  Without eating or drinking i can guarantee you will get at least a good 4-6 hours of full wear with out re-application.
Excuse me as I get emotional now writing this because if you are like me, and are OBSESSED with finding the perfect lip color in pink or red, you UNDERSTAND how HARD it is to find these things, and I really do mean it when I say that Lime Crime has done this.  They have created THE perfect matte red lip product.
The only negative critique I could say is the fragrance.  Personally I am VERY impartial to the signature scent of Lime Crime products.  I do not like having my lip products scented to be honest, and quite frankly don’t like having the scent of a cupcake sugar bomb resting under my nose throughout the day.
I hope to one day see Lime Crime product a “scentless” option of their popular products, but i guess until then I will bear with it.
Ultimately this product has restored my faith in Lime Crimes’ ability to produce and put out EXACTLY what they are marketing, and i PRAY they never stop making this line because it is TRULY a Miracle Lipstick!
